Travel to cool places. Eat lots of food. Repeat. And I thought I might lose a little weight with all of the walking.
You can think of this as a filler episode.
Jaipur to New Delhi was our next train journey. It was particularly hot and humid when we arrived - probably the hottest we'd experienced so far, and the air seemed fairly heavy with pollution. I'm not sure how long it had been since the last rain, the it was pretty hazy. I found myself really hoping for rain because it kept the air fairly clear for a few hours.
After a rainy and windy time in Udaipur, including an ill advised trip up to a temple on top of a mountain during a wind storm that was in the process of slowly tearing apart said temple, we took another long train ride to Jaipur. While there, we visited the Jantar Mantar monument there, which is an old school observatory, and features the world's largest stone sundial, which I just learned from Wikipedia. Neat.
After a 12 hour overnight train ride from Mumbai, we arrived in Udaipur and it definitely looked like monsoon season.
I believe I took this when we were departing from Mumbai on our way to Udaipur. Featuring an incredibly photogenic police officer.
And for fun here's a panorama of the train station
And of the train car we were on.
One documentary photo and one weak photo add up to one okay post. Higher quality photos to come tomorrow.
