Black and White

Gates and Bridges

I always have mixed feelings about traveling with nothing other than my phone to take pictures. The portability factor is the obvious bonus, but I really wish I had more flexibility while editing. The first image here turned out really well I think, and HDR is definitely getting  a lot better on phones, and while I'm happy enough with the second, there's still some very obvious blurring that happened because of poor autofocusing.

Two Star Photos of New Delhi

You can think of this as a filler episode.

Jaipur to New Delhi was our next train journey. It was particularly hot and humid when we arrived - probably the hottest we'd experienced so far, and the air seemed fairly heavy with pollution. I'm not sure how long it had been since the last rain, the it was pretty hazy. I found myself really hoping for rain because it kept the air fairly clear for a few hours.

Justice For...

I was walking home from work the other night and just minutes after I had walked into my building, I heard chanting outside and saw flashing lights. I went out to see what was up and discovered there were people walking northbound on Telegraph Avenue demonstrating against the unjust shooting of Mike Brown, an unarmed teen in Ferguson, Missouri on August 9th, 2014.

I saw the man in the above photo arrested shortly after I took it, and from what I gathered from the news, he was arrested for "suspicion of resisting or obstructing a police officer." I also saw him take a few blows from an officer's baton. I never saw him resisting, and I certainly never saw him do anything that warranted his being beaten with a club.
